Even though we have only just started a new holiday year 01.09.2023, it is time to think about planning the remaining holiday i.e., the holiday earned within the holiday year 01.09.2022 – 31.08.2023. As this must be held before 31.12.2023.
Thou if you have not taken the 4 weeks of earned holiday before 31.12.2023, you lose the right to the holiday. This means that the employer must pay these to Arbedsmarkedets Feriefond or an equivalent foundation.
Remaining holiday from the 5th holiday week, should generally be paid to the employee if it is not taken. If you as an employee wish to transfer the holiday, you can enter into a written agreement with your employer. Alternatively, the employer may give notice that the holiday is to be held. If the holiday is not given on notice and the employee does not wish to make an agreement on transfer, then the 5th holiday week must be paid to the employee.
